Red pine is a softwood material and yields beautiful results that have a classic look. It is appreciated for its simple beauty and timelessness. In Canada red pine has been used in furniture and flooring for centuries.
Red pine is suitable for those who want a classic appearance. It can be stained many colours to fit a desired look. It does well with brown tones, white washing, grey washing, white/grey washing, ebony, jacobean, red hues and other stains. Our Red pine is commonly sourced in the no.2 common grade. This grade has some knots but it’s not “knotty” pine, which would be more of a no.3 or no.4 common. For example, knots of varying sizes add beauty and dimension to the wood. Depending on what appearance a client may want to obtain, Red pine is the only option because it’s appearance is timelessly, or it fits the décor in the rest of the space.
Red pine does well for those who are looking for the most economical way to obtain a plank floor, as it’s generally less than half the cost of hardwood. It’s a good option for those who want the wear and tear of their flooring to be obvious. A floor of this density will dent more easily than hardwoods, and over time, these floors develop a natural, organic wear pattern than can’t be duplicated with hardwoods. If this is the type of look you’re after, look no further.
Would you like texture added in a Red pine plank floor? There are options! Initially, we install it with a flat top. After installation and during the finishing phase, we can add more subtle texture. With this process, texture is added and makes the Red pine flooring more forgiving to live with, and adds to the unique beauty.
